Sharon and the team were wonderful. Hosted a surprise birthday meal for my mum with 60 guests, half of them who stayed in the hotel. Food was delightful, service was great, very seamless and organised; the staff helped me set up the function room, balloons etc. Complimentary bottle of champagne was given to my mums hotel room and her breakfast was on the house. Overall very pleasant experience will definitely be returning. Thank you very much to Sharon, Donna and the whole team!
I came here on 28th December for a friends wedding being held at the pub. I stayed in a double room and as I'd read some reviews about the noise, asked for a quiet room. The staff moved my original booking to room 17 and kindly allowed me an early check in. I was really happy with my stay. The room was perfect for 1 person/a couple. Quite cosy and more importantly QUIET! It was 3 floors up (no lift) but there weren't loads of stairs and this was easily done. Staff were really lovely. Room was clean and bed was super comfy. The wedding was fab and the dinner served was absolutely amazing. Not sure if the same staff provide the pub food. If they do, then you are on to a winner. The location was great and located close to bus stops and not at all far from the train stations and the lovely little town. Staff were lovely and really helpful in calling taxi's from the reception. The bar staff were also really polite and nice. All in all very positive and I'd definitely stay again! Knocked one star off as 80 is a tad steep for the room. Did not include breakfast.
An absolute must if you are in Hertford. A perfect pub experience with top notch food. I thoroughly enjoyed the steak and kidney pie meal and the service was fast and friendly. Will go back again and again. Great job. Keep it up!!!!
Looks nice on the outside but not followed through on the inside especially considering the price for the size. The rooms need updating so the windows don't rattle when a large vehicle passes by and fixing the floorboards so they don't creek when people walk past while you're trying to sleep.Only positive for the room was a comfy bed but couldn't enjoy it because I kept being woken up.
I went to this hotel for a drink after a concert in All Saints Church. It was already late on a Saturday evening. However, the staff were welcoming and efficient, the drinks were good quality and cheap. The room was warm and free from intrusive music. This was the best place for this post-concert get-together.
